It has been too longMar 14, 2010
Time flies by, it is hard to believe that I haven't written anything here in over a year. My projects keep moving forward, though there is a lot that I haven't added to my carving gallery yet. I just finished two carvings for a friend where I work, she likes my work and wanted me to make two carving for her kids, James and Anessa. I think these carvings turned out well, they are name carvings. My Leota carving is complete excepted for a finish on it, I haven't decided if I want satin or semigloss. I've worked on other small projects like another couple of seahorses that still need a finish and to be posted. As I said last time, life keeps me busy and I don't always get around to updating these pages, but my carving keeps moving forward. Right now I am working on some ideas I have for making a family tree carving for Maria's family. I have found time in the last few months to help out some young friends of mine, helping them make nut people. I've enjoyed shairing what I know with them and watching their imagination take hold. My guest book was not operational for a while, but the problem has been fixed. As always I would like to hear from all of you, so be sure to sign my guest book and let me know what you think and which of my carving you like the best and why. I guess that's all for now, see you later.

What I have been up to in 2008Oct 29, 2008
It has been over a year since I have written here, I have been busy with work, family and life in general. I have found time to carve, especially within the last few months. I am going on vacation starting Friday October 31st 2008 for two weeks and a day to Argentina, to see my wife Maria’s family. I am taking with me eight name carvings, one for maria’s sister Chris and seven for the children. I have posted these carvings along with a Valentine carving I made for my wife, Maria this year. The Leota carving I am making for my late grandmother is almost finished. I have other pieces which need a finish on them before I will show them. Hopefully I will find some time to carve on my vacation.

My Product PickSep 23, 2007

I just added a new button to my menu bar, “Ed’s Rockler Pick.”  Click here and view my pick for Rockler’s outstanding carving tools.  Check out the selection, I’m sure you will find something useful and help support this website.

Welcome RocklerAug 26, 2007

You have probably noticed some banners throughout EJSCarvings lately, they are for Rockler Woodworking and Hardware.  Rockler has a number of nifty items for anyone who does woodworking.  I especially like their Flexcut knives and  chisels.  I have used Flexcut knives and chisels, and there is nothing better.  These tools are great for those starting out as well as those who know there way around a piece of wood.  Even if you have quite a collection of woodworking tools no shop is complete with at least one Flexcut tool.  These tools hold a sharp edge longer than most I have tried.  Besides the Rockler link button, there is also a button for a FREE Rockler catalog.  You have nothing to loose, just click on the Free Rockler catalog button fill out the short form “The Rockler Woodworking and Hardware catalog features over 150 pages of our best products mailed directly to your door. You should receive your catalog in 1 to 2 weeks, depending on your location.”  Rockler has over 50 years of service supplying quality products.  I’m sure there is something there for you.

New Carving Page.Jan 10, 2007
It has been a long time since I have felt like writing, but I am back. My web designer has finely completed a program that will enable me to do most of my programming for EJSCARVINGS. Thanks to Eric S. I will be able to fill in the blanks and have new carvings and text added to my site. It has been a long time in the making. During this long period I have continued to carve and work on projects. The carvings Dragon Spore and Betty Boop which I talked about earlier were supposed to be brought on line over a year ago, but there were delays to my new page (My New Carvings) being established, these two carvings were held back and are now in my new section. I did however add some new carvings to my old section, one of these carvings is a name carving, Alberto, a carving for my wife’s father, the other carving comes from my archives and another box I made for my friend Tami, Tami was nice enough to take a picture of the box I made her and sent it to me so I can share it with all of you. My new carvings are found in the section marked My New Carvings and you will notice that it is different then the way My Carving Gallery was set up. First off this new page has a small icon on the left with descriptive text and thoughts on the right. Second click on the icon and another window pops up to show you a larger picture of my carving, if there is more than one picture, the viewer will show a slide show. I also have added a “Posted on,” date to each entry so you will know when it was added. Right now besides Dragon Spore and Betty Boop, my new section has a carving of a button I made, a flower for my friend Nellie, and another name carving for my good friend Fadhili who is looking to have his own website up and running in the near future with some of his outstanding art. Stay tuned to the WCN for updates on when Fadhili’s work will up for viewing. I also have a carving of a wooden tube, tribute to Gerry a friend from Pfizer. My newest carving that I have posted is “Flower Heart Vine,” a carving that I made for my wife, Maria, for Christmas. Also new to EJSCARVINGS is “Maria’s Carvings,” Maria is my loving and supportive wife. Maria occasionally works on projects so I have given her room to do that here. Maria will also use her section to show photos of our trips around about and give us her thought on them. What’s ahead, plenty, I have several projects going on at once, many of them almost finished and ready to show. I am making another word carving, this one for someone very special, Jada, a carving for the little girl of one of my best friends Tiffiny. I have some carvings for my family in Argentina. I have another dragon carving I hope to have out in a month and I am also working on making a candy machine with some flower designs on the sides. There is a lot going on here and I am glad to be finely up and running like I have wanted to be since EJSCARVING first started. I would like to give special thanks my friends many of who have carving on this site that I made for them. I get inspired for the work I do often from them and our friendship. Maria is also a great inspiration for me and the work I do. She is always there to encourage me to set goals and to reach them, thanks Mi amor.

Back On LineJul 6, 2005
I have been away for a while trying to find a home for my web site. I return with more of my work to show and news of other projects on the way. First off I have made another Celtic key for my wife. I also have another Seahorse on display. From my archives I have found some of my box pictures to share. Finely I have one of my smallest carvings, Tail Biter at less than 2 inches diameter. Now for what's ahead: My Dragon Spore carving is finished and should be on line in a couple of days. Also sometime next week I hope to have on line my latest carving which is quite a different subject for me: "Betty Boop." What's different about this carving is I use my wood burner to add to the carving's features. One last note, I started carving on my walking stick again and hope to have something to show you in the weeks to follow.

TREELINE: A Great Place for Carving Tools & Related SuppliesSep 14, 2004
This is one of the best places to buy carving tools, supplies, etc. I have visited their warehouse in Provo, UT and found the people friendly and informative. Most of their business is through their website. I have ordered from them and have never been disappointed. Check out their FlexCut tools, they are the best. TREELINEUSA.COM

Moving to a new location Sep 13, 2004
In a few day this website will be taken off line in order to move it to a new location. We may be off line for a few days, but will be back up as soon as possible.

Comming SoonSep 9, 2004
My next carving to put on my website is very small, but I think very nice. I call it Dragon Spore. It is an experiment carving, I wanted to try using a linseed oil finish this time. This carving is completed except for the finish and a stand. More later

Anniversary CarvingSep 3, 2004
Welcome to WCN this is my first official message. I created this portion of my webpage so I could let everyone know of up coming work and also things that are now finished and on line. Todays new piece is another heart and flower combo. The carving is for a friend I met in the workplace. This also marks the first time I sold one of my carvings. Anniversary Carving
